Gas Fireplace Inserts as a sealed gas fireplace can replace the existing wood burning fireplace. A gas long set which is installed in a cast iron or steel heat exchanger is included in this unit. They are sealed on the front with glass in most cases. To disperse the heat around the room, fans are included in some of them. Wall mounted thermostat or a wall switch and remote control are also available in Gas Fireplace Inserts for easy control of the gas.
Vented gas logs are less effective than inserts. These insert units are safer after all because they use sealed glass front. Output BTU ranges from 10.000 BTU to 40.000 BTU considering this insert as a good insert.
Modern gas fireplace insert is familiarly with direct vent system. They designed to use a two pipe system, first pipe will bring combustion air into the insert and the second pipe will vent the exhaust. The most important thing you should know and note about this type of fireplace unit is that the chimney must line with two flexible aluminum or steel pipes.
With the design like that will allow intake and exhaust to be properly safe and balance as well. But if a one pipe system used in the gas fireplace insert than a B-vent system or also known as a two-vent system, this system won’t work properly and also not so safe and not so efficient as if we use two-vent system intake and exhaust.
You can considering a gas fireplace insert as an inexpensive project. You only have to spend your money for the insert itself around S$1.200 – S$3.000 and plus another thousand dollars for the installation costs involved.
With prohibitive cost of energy that most homeowner facing today already make them headache and looking for another alternative for efficiency in heating system and of course with cost saving, that’s the main reason for them to install Gas Fireplace Inserts in their home. For heating their room, this type of fireplaces are much more efficiency and safer than wood burning fireplaces.
